The magnetic floating ring or magnetic floating ball are made of plastic(NBR/PA/PP) or stainless steel, have a very high strength-to-weight ratio making them shock and abrasion resistant as well as capable of enduring a high water pressure. Additionally, the magnetic floats have a high resistance to many chemicals and are therefore an ideal solution in fuel tanks, oil containers or brake fluid reservoirs. Actuator magnet is contained within the magnetic floating ball or magnetic floating ring though partially exposed to the liquid material. Float size and shape are different as liquid level sensors are different.

Magnetic float ball or floating ring serve a variety of purposes across multiple industries. They're essential for systems like boilers, oil fields, water management, and refrigeration, where liquid level control and measurement are critical. While both materials can sometimes be used interchangeably, most applications require one or the other.
Plastic float balls are commonly used in sensors for light-duty, consumer-grade applications. They are often found in simple systems such as toilet overflow valves, sump pumps, and pool pumps. Due to their affordability, plastic float balls are a cost-effective solution for basic liquid level sensors in these types of applications.
However, for more demanding sensor applications, stainless steel magnetic floats are preferred due to their enhanced durability and ability to withstand extreme conditions. Stainless steel magnetic floats can endure significant pressure and a wide range of temperatures, both high and low. In contrast, plastic float balls in sensors can fail under extreme temperatures, such as in boiler feed systems, where they are at risk of melting and causing sensor malfunctions. In colder environments, plastic floats are also susceptible to cracking and breaking.
Plastic float balls are suitable for basic, low-cost sensor applications, stainless steel magnetic float balls are essential for more reliable and durable sensor systems, especially in harsh or chemically demanding environments.
Magnetic floats play a crucial role in the operation of liquid level sensors, which are simple yet highly effective liquid level switches. These sensors operate without the need for power supply or complex circuitry, making them ideal for applications across a wide range of industries, such as shipbuilding, petrochemical, food processing, generator equipment, and water treatment.
At the heart of the liquid level sensor switch is the magnetic float, which is a floating ball embedded with magnetic materials. The magnetic float interacts with a magnetic reed switch that is enclosed in an airtight, non-magnetic tube, typically made of metal or plastic. As the liquid level changes, the magnetic float moves up or down within the tube. This motion brings the float's magnet closer to or further away from the reed switch, causing it to open or close. The resulting action is used to control or indicate the liquid level, providing a reliable and efficient method for monitoring and regulating fluid levels without the need for external power sources.
