1. Resistive (Potentiometric): Measures voltage changes as a wiper moves along a resistive element.
2. Inductive: Uses electromagnetic induction to detect changes in inductance caused by a moving core.
3. Capacitive: Measures changes in capacitance due to variations in distance or dielectric material.
4. Optical: Uses light interruption or reflection to determine position.
5. Magnetic: Detects changes in a magnetic field using Hall effect or magnetoresistive elements.
6. Ultrasonic: Measures the time delay of ultrasonic waves reflecting off an object.
These principles allow position sensors to be used in diverse applications like industrial automation, automotive systems, and consumer electronics.
